after recently having a hip replacemant and my husband having knee surgery ,we were both very impressed with the treatment and after care we both had with mr kumar.the recovery time was much better and shorter than my previous hip replacement at another hospital and with another surgeon.we would certainly recommend mr kumar and the blackheath hospital to friends and family if they were in need of similar surgery. many thanks

Mr Kumar performed my first (right) knee total replacement on 22 May 2019, I followed all instructions to the letter and did my physio as directed. From the first moment I met Mr Kumar I felt that this guy knew what he was doing and boy my instincts were spot on. I made a full, infection free recovery in 12 weeks post op. I kept away from hospitals during the Pandemic but once I felt that it was safe to return, I contacted BUPA direct and asked that I keep the same surgeon for my second(left) knee total replacement. I explained over the phone to BUPA that I felt safe in this guy's care, together with the same anaesthetist and they said OK. Happily, again all went well, The Blackheath Hospital were again impressive and again 12 weeks later I am walking upright, no pain, legs feel strong just waiting for the swelling to the left knee to completely go, but this may take several months. Both knees were bone on bone situations but now I actually feel like a new man. Thanks to Mr Kumar and is dedication.

As an 83 year old NHS patient, I was very fortunate to have Mr Anil-Kumar perform a total knee replacement on my left knee. Prior to the surgery I was diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis, and my knee was bending inwards. I'd found it very painful to get up from a sitting position and use stairs. Though I am otherwise quite fit, I'd had to restrict my walking. Mr Kumar was attentive and sympathetic in our consultations. He explained in detail what he would do, warned me that the recovery period would be painful and answered my questions. My surgery has been a great success. I have excellent movement in the knee once more, and it is straight. Stairs and steps are no problem, and I can enjoy walking and exercising again. I am very grateful to Mr Kumar for the superb work he has done. I would also highly recommend the Blackheath Hospital. Care and aftercare were excellent.
